This third installment of the O’Shaughnessy Chronicles relates the story of the three O’Shaughnessy daughters—particularly the interactions between Ruby, the strong-willed and daring middle child, and Catherine, the impressionable youngest who idolizes her older sister.
Ruby is like a puppet master, constantly pulling Catherine’s strings and getting her into trouble, and things go from bad-to-worse when the girls’ free-spirited cousin, Gusta, shows up in the O’Shaughnessy household. It’s not until Catherine grows up and begins dating the dashing Jonathon Hays, over Ruby’s vehement objections, that the puppet’s strings begin to fray.
